Osprey Packs Broadens Technical Cycling Range with Innovative Entry Into Bikepacking Category

Escapist bikepacking range and Extended Fit mountain bike packs cater to more rider segments
CORTEZ, Colo., Oct. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Osprey Packs, a leader in creating top-quality, high-performance innovative carry solutions, is broadening its technical cycling pack range with a new family of bikepacking gear, Escapist, and Extended Fit sizes in its premium mountain bike pack family, Raptor | Raven, to cater to more riders. The eight-style Escapist collection marks Osprey’s entry into the bikepacking category, catering to bikepackers, gravel and singletrack riders who use their bikes to explore the world. The expanded cycling line will launch with the upcoming spring 2024 collection release.

Featuring three on-body backpacks and five bike-mounted frame bags, the comprehensive Escapist system enables riders to build their kit to suit individual preferences, while allowing them to carry more in variable conditions. The Escapist on-body packs have gender neutral fits and come in three volumes to scale with different-sized missions and activity-specific needs: the Escapist 20 ($140.00), Escapist 25 ($160.00) and Escapist 30 ($180.00). The packs feature expansive hipbelt pockets, fast-access stash pockets in reachable side positions, and significant internal organization, pouches and entry points for streamlined, efficient carry.
Leaning into the element, the Escapist packs are designed with cycle-specific function in mind, like a cleverly designed dropped-lumbar to center weight on the sit-bones and a split upper back panel that allows for both an aggressive riding posture and on-body comfort. Other bike-friendly details include: lidlock helmet attachments, blinky light attachment, extra-high visibility raincovers, webbing keepers and glove-compatible buckles. The load lifters can also be cranked down to create highly capable hiking packs. In addition to rider-focused features, the Escapist on-body packs are sustainably designed and carry bluesign® Product designations. The pack bodies use bluesign® approved 100% recycled 210D nylon and a PFAS-free DWR treatment to enhance durability and water resistance. A bluesign® approved 100% recycled 500D high-tenacity nylon bottom offers added protection and performance.
The Escapist on-bike frame packs are thoughtfully designed as a modular bikepacking system, customizable for any rider and adventure. The five-style assortment is designed to fit a wide array of bike geometries and applications. The on-bike packs feature a 100% recycled 210D high-tenacity nylon with double ripstop construction and a TPU laminate coating to shed the elements. RF welded seams and waterproof zippers increase water resistant protection.
Key on-bike styles include: the Escapist Handlebar Bag ($120.00) and Escapist Saddle Bag ($120.00), two-piece designs with custom mounting holsters and innovative covered air purge holes that allow pressure to vent out with increased compression and stability, supporting high-capacity carry. The Escapist Frame Bag, offered in three sizes (S $80.00, M $85.00, L $90.00), accommodates varied bike frames and gear requirements. These waterproof frame bags also feature glove-friendly double ended zippers for easy access to layers and gear. Rounding out the on-bike packs are the Escapist Wedge Bag ($60.00) and the Escapist Top Tube Bag ($45.00). The wedge bag is cleverly designed with variable angles and can be mounted forward or backward to wide-ranging bike geometries. The top tube bag has three secure mounting points for stability between stem and frame. Easy access features, like a cable port, allow riders to run power to a GPS or other handlebar-mounted device.
In spring 2024, Osprey will also introduce its Extended Fit (EF) program to the bike category, offering its popular Raptor | Raven 14 mountain bike pack with extended hip belts to fit up to 70-inch hips. Raptor | Raven 14 EF ($175) will maintain notable features, including bike-specific winged shoulder harnesses and airmesh wrap hip belts, LidLock helmet attachments, and included tool rolls for extra organization. The packs will also come with the updated Osprey Hydraulics LT 2.5L reservoir and sternum strap magnetic bite valve attachment. The pack bodies use bluesign® approved 100% recycled 210D nylon and DWR treatments made without PFAS to enhance durability and water resistance.
Osprey’s expanded technical cycling pack range will be available beginning in February 2024 on osprey.com and at specialty retailers in over 60 countries worldwide.
