An AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT With 32GB Memory Could Be In The Works

While the specifications of AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 Series are still up in the air at this point, a recent rumour suggests that the red chipmaker could be working on a 9070 XT with double the graphics memory. More interestingly, the GPU is expected to be a gaming variant, and not one under the Radeon PRO series.

The rumour comes from the Chiphell forums and more specifically, user zhangzhonghao, who has been mentioned in our earlier reports. The leakster appears confident that the card will be called the Radeon RX 9070 XT 32GB and it is expected to launch at the end of the second quarter.

It is both surprising and perplexing that little is still known about AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 Series. While we saw variants of the card at AMD’s booth during CES 2025, the brand was really buttoned up about the cards’ specifications. At the very least, we now know that the 9070 XT has 16GB of graphics memory, presumably GDDR6.

Since the emergence of this rumour, discussions on how AMD would be able to pull this off have arisen. If AMD is indeed planning on creating a RX 9070 XT with 32GB memory, we could be looking at a new version of memory modules. And considering that 4GB GDDR6 modules do not yet exists, there’s a possibility of the card using a dual-sided memory configuration, meaning modules on both sides of the PCB.

AMD has made it clear that it has no intentions of fighting NVIDIA’s enthusiast and high-end GPU market and instead focus on garnering “market share”, which is another way of describing the mainstream market. To be more precise, it wants to bring “4K mainstream” gaming to the masses.
