Samsung has announced that its co-CEO for its consumer electronics and mobile devices division, Han Jong-Hee, has passed away. A spokesperson has told Reuters that he was in a hospital being treated for the condition when he passed, and he was admitted as early as Saturday.
According to SamMobile, the company announced Han’s passing via an internal note which reads “we pray for the peach of the deceased who devoted 37 years to the company. The deceased led the global TV business to be number one and did their utmost as the head of the Set Division and the Digital Appliances (DA) division amidst challenging domestic and international circumstances”.

For context, the the report notes that Samsung had merged its consumer electronics and mobile divisions into a single entity which is the DA division back in 2021. Han, who was the head of the company’s Visual Display division at the time, was promoted to lead the new division as well as to be vice chairman of Samsung Electronics.
He was also scheduled to deliver a keynote speech during the upcoming “Welcome to Bespoke” event, though that’s obviously not happening anymore. SamMobile notes that his funeral will take place on 27 March.
