LG Also Crushed Objects To Reveal A New Product… 15 Years Ago

[[{“value”:”

Have you heard of the LG KC910 Renoir? Apparently, it was a cutting edge smartphone back in the day – so much so that LG UK decided to use a daring ad to prove that point.

The commercial in question, which ran 30 seconds, depicted an assortment of musical instruments, speakers, cameras, and art materials neatly arranged within a large hydraulic press. All of these objects are then crushed and compressed, seemingly taking the form of a palm-sized smart device as the end result.

Sounds familiar? Keep in mind that LG released this in November 2008.

This begs several questions. Did Apple copy an ad that came out over 15 years ago, or is it just by sheer coincidence that the now-infamous “Crush” commercial for the new iPad Pro resembles LG’s idea from yesteryear? And are we expecting another apology from the Cupertino-based tech giant soon?

Now, you may be wondering if the ad for the LG KC910 Renoir had also received a ton of backlash back in the day. Based on the initial comments on YouTube, audience reactions included praising or poking fun at the phone itself, while one user did find the video distasteful. Interestingly, that particular person claimed to be a proud iPhone 3G owner.

Different times indeed.
